The Family. Since 1948 Piazzano farm has belonged to the Bettarini family when Othello a manufacturer in Prato decided to face his own “ post-war” by retiring to the country. Here he dedicated himself to his new career as a vine grower with enthusiasm. Alongside the farming activities he also cultivated his passion for astronomy, even building the Astronomic Observatory of Piazzano. The farm expanded further under the guidance of Riccardo Bettarini who took it over from his uncle Othello after leaving his manufacturing business to dedicate himself entirely to farming. He was to achieve recognition for the farm’s products in Italy and arouse much interest in the rest of the world. Since 1999 the farm has been run by Riccardo’s children, Ilaria and Rolando, who, respecting the family tradition, conduct the business with passion and professionalism.
